Speech & Language Overview

Welcome to our Speech and Language Page
Laura Black, our Lead Speech and Language Therapist works across all IFtL schools, providing support to children, school staff and families in addition to NHS Speech and Language services.
Our main aims across all IFtL schools are to:
- Create ‘Communication-Supportive Schools’ with staff who are confident in identifying and supporting children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
- To equip and upskill staff to feel confident in identifying and supporting children with SLCN.
- To empower parents to play a key role in supporting their children’s communication and interaction skills, feeling included and valued in the process.
- To create a positive impact on children’s outcomes: enabling children to be more confident communicators who can communicate to the best of their ability (both verbally and non-verbally) and have a strong support system in place.
